Liturgy

At the intersection of Witness, Mercy, Life Together is the cross of Jesus Christ. Jesus' sacrificial death is what holds the Church together and there is no work of the Church apart from it. It is the Divine Liturgy that brings the cross of Christ to people here and now. The word "liturgy" derives from the Greek word leitourgia, which means "a service rendered." In the context of the Church, liturgy is the service rendered by God to His people. It's much more than an order of words to say about God. Liturgy is God speaking to His people to declare them holy and forgiven. Because the nature of the Divine Liturgy is unique, it also takes a unique form. In this section, you'll discover the richness of the Divine Liturgy that is conducted each weekend at Emmanuel.
